HL169 Berkasovo helmet

Description

This piece, found in Berkasovo, has the same oriental shape than most heavy helmets of the late roman empire. Made of iron, it is plated with embossed brass decorations, and semi precious jewels. Originally made of gilded silver the plates of our copy are made of brass, and the jewel of glass. It belonged certainly to a high ranking officer.

Made of iron, brass plates, with an internal leather trimming. Due to the two layers of metal, it weights about 4kg.
