MR176 Roman Gridiron

Description

The Gridiron is a small roman cooking grill. To be placed upon a fire, to avoid putting your situla or patera directly into the fire, and burning irremediably your lunch ! Made after the one dated from the 4th cent AD found at Icklingham in the UK, to be seen in the British Museum. An interesting addition to a legionnary gear.

Forged iron. Dimensions 30 x 23 x 8cm, Weigth 1,8kg

× All these cooking accessories are accurate copies of historical artefacts. They may be used, but they do not meet the european standarts for cooking and eating devices. The tinned items may contain small quantities of lead, and the copper based alloys are slightly toxic (we know that now.. but they did not in the middle age and antiquity).
