Description
The "Gardes du Directoire" become in 1797 the "Horse Grenadiers". They join in the Imperial Guard in 1804. Their uniform is almost the same than the Foot Grenadiers, with their typical fur hat.
They are provided with a new saber in 1802-1803 (An XI kind), made by the Versaille factory, a grenade decorating the hilt. The scabbard, opened on the sides to show the black leather covered shaft, is also well known. It was used until 1810. The officers had a more decorated hilt, ad the one shown on our copy.

These swords and sabers are high quality copies. Blades are made of forged and tempered steel. They might not be used for fencing, though.
