SW558 Imperial Guard's horse grenadiers and dragoons saber, 1810 kind

Description

The horse grenadier were first equipped with a saber on which "Grenadiers de la Gendarmerie" was written. It was soon changed for a saber made by Boutet, with a straight blade. The second squadron was then equipped with the light cavalry an IV saber.

A new hilt version was soon invented by Boutet, which was put on a Montmorency blade in 1802. The scabbard was finally improved in 1810, and this is the replica we sell. The control punches are also present on the blade and the hilt.

Length 112 cm. Weigth 1,4kg.

× These swords and sabers are high quality copies. Blades are made of forged and tempered steel. They might not be used for fencing, though.
